The Cloverdale girls' golf team, along with coach Ken Williams, traveled to Forest Park Golf Course in Brazil to take on the Northview Knights and Linton Miners Thursday afternoon.

Finishing first in the team scores was Northview with a 186, followed by Cloverdale with 190, and Linton with a 221.

Medalist honors were shared at Thursday's competition as Cloverdale's Kayla Langdon and Northview's Mandy Thomlinson both carded a 43. Langdon had one birdie, two pars, and four bogies on the day. Just as impressive as Langdon's co-medalist honors was the fact that the Lady Clovers scored under 200 for the first time in four years and they were only one stroke from the 2003 CHS record.

Also posting scores for CHS were Victoria Boyette with a 47, Elizabeth Wiley 50, Sydney Shrum 50, Brooke Thompson 61, Dani Ellebrecht 71, Savanna Gaddis 71, and Cedar Woodworth 72.

"We played well overall, but still took a lot of extra strokes due to poor decisions on the course." CHS varsity golf coach Ken Williams noted, "One of our goals is to score under 200 regularly, so this is a big step in that direction. We need to continue improving our short game and course management skills."

The next match for the Cloverdale girls' golf progam will be this afternoon against South Putnam at 4:30 p.m.
