Junior Danielle Matsel placed fifth in the junior/senior big school race. She received a medal for her efforts. Elizabeth Law's placement was not available as of press time, as official results have not been released. The third OV girl runner, Bethany Stewart, was sick and did not attend Saturday's meet.

For the boys' team, senior Jack Petry was the top Patriot, finishing in 14th place with a time of 19:39. Also posting scores for the boys were Luke Bird in 18th at 20:45, Trayson Westray in 25th at 23:37, Austin Miller in 28th at 24:20, Tildon Fidler in 29th at 25:30, and Bucky Arnold in 30th at 25:34. OV competitors Dave Parker and Nick Holt did not run.

"The boys finished third at Bloomington North as a team Saturday," OV boys' coach Norm Warner said. "This is the first time in a while that we've finished ahead of anybody and we're very excited."

Struggling to field a team at the beginning of the season, coach Warner, coach Benton and the Patriots have plenty to be proud of and excited about.

Owen Valley was scheduled to compete against Cascade, Tri- West and Greencastle Wednesday evening at Cascade before traveling to the Shakamak Invitational on Saturday. Start time is scheduled for 9 a.m.
