Owen Valley's junior varsity volleyball team also fell to Terre Haute South Wednesday evening, 14-25, 24-25.

"Even though on paper we lost, I felt we came out with a win," OV junior varsity coach Kimberly Hale said. "We never gave up on the ball."

Shelby Roberts led Owen Valley in scoring with eight points on five aces. Rachel Truax led the team in kills with five. Victoria Byerly was the team's top defender, finishing the night with eight digs. Shelby McClure added six set assists.

"Shelby McClure did a great job covering the court and getting a hand on the ball," Hale noted. "Our offense is getting stronger with our hitting. I wish we could have played another game with them (Terre Haute South)… I feel our girls would work very hard and get them."

The junior varsity squad will travel to Cloverdale Saturday to compete in the host school's junior varsity tournament beginning at 9 a.m.

Looking to regroup, the Owen Valley varsity volleyball squad will host Bloomington North on Tuesday, September 29. Junior varsity action will begin at 6 p.m., with the varsity game to follow.
