Today’s Meditation

From The Upper Room
The World’s Most Widely Read Daily Devotional Guide

Read John 17:20-26

Jesus said, “I made your name known to [those whom you gave me], and I will make it known, so that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”

-John 17:26 (NRSV)

Each day as I read my Bible and this daily devotional magazine, the testimonies of my brothers and sisters in Christ bring me closer to God and to them. I walk with them through their daily experiences. I share their personal stories, their struggles to forgive, the anguish and the heartache they feel. I rejoice with those who rejoice in every triumph and victory. Because of their closeness to God, I feel that I touch God.

Just as those 120 believers mentioned in Acts 1:15 must have been close to one another as they waited and prayed, similarly I draw close not only to God but also to my brothers and sisters all over the world as they share their experiences of God’s love. I thank God for each one, and I am strengthened and encouraged by the faith and courage of their testimonies to live as God calls us to.

Prayer: Thank you, Lord Jesus, that all those who believe are one in you. May our faith be strengthened each day as we talk with one another about what we learn of and do for you. Amen.

Thought for the Day: The family God gives us goes beyond race, nation, and time.
