Coal City Man Injured When Tractor Overturns And Pins Him Beneath It

A Coal City man suffered unknown personal injuries to his lower extremities when a tractor overturned, pining him beneath it shortly after 11 o’clock Friday morning. Emergency personnel from the Indiana State Police, Coal City Community Volunteer Fire Department, Owen County EMS and Rescue Team, and an AirEvac Lifeteam helicopter quickly responded to the scene at 4387 Main Street in Coal City. Emergency personnel were able to utilize leverage to lift the toppled Ford 3000 tractor off of 87-year-old George Weatherwax, who had been mowing with the equipment on his property when one of the rear tires struck a stump, inverting the tractor. Weatherwax was airlifted to IU Health-Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
