Stable Studios Will Host Rock & Run 5K Event Saturday, June 1st

Staff Report

A scenic 5K ‘Rock and Run’ event set for Saturday, June 1 will include a concert at Stable Studios, with a portion of the day’s proceeds to benefit aspiring student musicians at Owen Valley Middle School.

The run/walk will kick off at 9:00 a.m. at Stable Studios, located at 2034 Dubois Road, west of Spencer, with registration beginning at 7:00 a.m.

Online registration ends May 15, but runners can still sign up the day of the event.

“It is a 5K trail run/walk. The trail is gorgeous! It will go through all of our camping and winding trails, through Bill Glass’ Woodland Tree Farm and a beautiful lake owned by Marty Waleyage,” explained Jessica Kinnick Wesley of Stable Studios. “This time of year is perfect because the weather isn’t too hot and everything is in full bloom. Along the route, we’ll have musicians playing all kinds of instruments/music from guitar, drum circles and djembe. There will be awards for the top two in the women’s and men’s division age 20 and older, and the top two in the men’s and women’s division under age 20.”

Immediately following the race, two live bands will perform on the Stable Studios main stage, including the amazing local band, The Roosters. The event will also feature delicious food from The Muffin Top, as well as beverages and a full bar for those age 21 and older.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Owen Valley Middle School Band program to help fund instruments for students interested in band.

Spectators can come cheer on their friends and family for only $10, which includes parking and admittance to both bands.

Free camping will be available on Friday, May 31. All ages are welcome. No dogs, bikes or allterrain vehicles will be allowed on the trails.
