Jerry Ellsworth Lewis, 74

Jerry Ellsworth Lewis Jerry Ellsworth Lewis Jerry Ellsworth Lewis, 74, of Spencer, was taken into God’s care on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at IU Health-Bloomington. He was born in Spencer on January 25, 1939 to Lester and Mary P. (Thacker) Lewis. Jerry was a 1957 graduate of Spencer High School. He later served in the Indiana National Guard. He was the owner/ operator of Lewis Service Center and a businessman in Spencer for many years. Mr. Lewis was a Christian and was raised in the Spencer Baptist Church. Jerry enjoyed spending time at his winter home in Florida, but his biggest joy was his love of family.

Jerry is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 49 years, Elena (McCormick-Gardiner) Lewis; children, Randy Lewis, Rick Lewis and Rusty Lewis, all of Bloomington, Cassie (Jon) Lewis-Ridner of Gainesville, Florida, Allan (Andrea “Angel”) Lewis of Bowling Green, and Jerry Todd (Georgiana “Angie”) Lewis of Spencer; father and stepmother, Lester and Peggy Lewis of Spencer; sisters, Nancy Thacker of Mooresville and Sue Lewis of Spencer; and 18 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lewis.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 9, 2013 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home with his son, Pastor Allan Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, and from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Owen County Humane Society, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
