Lawson moves on to face Democratic candidate Linda Roy, a former deputy clerk in charge of elections for Owen County and current Owen County Treasurer’s Office employee who, although unopposed, received a total of 985 votes on Tuesday.

Roy’s total was the second highest among Democratic candidates, behind unopposed candidate for county recorder, Tami Snodgrass, with 1,081 votes. Roy’s largest tally came from Washington 1, with 147 votes.

“I’m just glad it’s over, now we move on to the fall,” Roy said. “I just want to run a race that’s pleasant with no controversies.”

Linda Roy (D) Linda Roy (D) Lawson’s margin of victory over Brothers was 1,013 votes to 846. Lawson enjoyed wins in Clay 1, Jackson, Jefferson, Jennings, Marion, Montgomery, Morgan, Washington 1, Washington II, Washington III, Wayne 1 and Wayne II. The two candidates tied for the most votes in the precincts of Lafayette and Washington IV.

Brothers earned the most votes in the precincts of Clay II, Franklin, Harrison and Taylor.

“I just want to thank the voters who came out,” Lawson said. “It wasn’t an easy campaign, but worth the effort to be able to serve such a great community. I will work hard again this fall and I appreciate all of your support.”
