POW/MIA Ceremony

A Prisoner Of War/Missing In Action (POW/MIA) ceremony will be held at the McCormick’s Creek Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center on Wednesday, September 24, beginning at 7:00 p.m. The ceremony will be conducted by members of the Spencer VFW Post #1405 Ladies Auxiliary and Spencer American Legion Post #284 Ladies Auxiliary. The ladies auxiliaries will also team up to host a POW/MIA ceremony at the Owen Valley Health Campus in Spencer on Thursday, October 2, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Both events will include a flag-folding ceremony led by the Owen Valley High School Junior ROTC program.

The following evening, October 3, the organizations will host a POW/MIA ceremony on the west lawn of the Owen County Courthouse, also beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event will get underway with a presentation by the Patriot Riders, while U.S. Army Colonel (ret.) Dr. Scott Haraburda will serve as the program’s guest speaker. The public is encouraged to attend any or all of these upcoming programs.
