MAKING YOUR FOOD DOLLARS WORK, Thursday, November 13, from 1-2 p.m. at the New Beginnings Pregnancy Resource Center in Spencer. This series teaches important concepts related to tracking income and expenses, comparison-shopping and impulse buying, meal planning, and the relationship between spending leaks and goal setting. This series includes; The “Ins” and “Outs” of getting through the month, Comparison Shopping and Impulse Buying, Saving money and Menu Planning, and It All Adds Up.

OWEN COUNTY LOCAL COORDINATING COUNCIL FOR A DRUG-FREE INDIANA will meet Thursday, November 13, beginning at 4:15 p.m. in the Spencer Municipal Building, located at 90 North West Street. The public is welcome to attend. This will be the first meeting following the summer break. Items on the agenda include this year’s Apple Butter Festival.

November 15

THE OWEN COUNTY AMATEUR RADIO ASSOCIATION will meet Saturday, November 15, beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the basement of the Spencer First Christian Church, located at 157 South Montgomery Street. After a brief business meeting, aspiring radio amateur Larry Howard will present a program titled, “Building you own Drone.” Learn more about the Owen County Amateur Radio Association online at www.OwenCountyARA.org.

THE WORLD OUTREACH CHURCH WILL HOST A FOOD DRIVE, Saturday, November 15, beginning at 9 a.m. at Babbs SuperValu in Spencer. The food drive will benefit the Carpenter’s Kitchen community outreach program.

THE OWEN COUNTY ART GUILD WILL HOLD AN ART AUCTION PREVIEW on Saturday, November 15, from 2-4 p.m. Cash, checks and charge cards will be accepted.

THE OWEN VALLEY BAND AND GUARD BOOSTERS WILL HOST AN ARTS AND CRAFT FAIR on Saturday, November 15, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Owen Valley Middle School cafeteria. The craft fair will benefit the entire band program. Programs supported by the Boosters include marching band, winter guard, percussion theatre, jazz band and concert band as well as the repair of musical instruments.

November 17

THE SENIOR DINNER will be held Monday, November 17 at the Spencer Senior Center. The host will be McCormick’s Creek Rehabiliation & Skilled Nursing Center. Bring a covered dish and a $3 donation. Entertainment will be Robert Fox. Dinner is at 6:00 p.m.

SPENCER-OWEN RETIRED TEACHERS (SORT) will tour the Lilly Library on IU’s campus on Monday, November 17, beginning at 10:45 a.m.. This tour will be followed by a noon lunch at the Tudor Room inside the IU Memorial Union building. Half-price parking is available at the two parking lots close to the Union building. HOMEMAKERS’ SEWING DAY... The Sewing group will meet Wednesday, November 19, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Purdue Extension Owen County Office, located at 180 South Washington Street in Spencer. Anyone is welcome to attend. Donations of gently used sheets for hospice gowns, cotton juvenile prints and fiberfill for puppy pillows are also welcome. If you have fabric or fiberfill that you would like to donate, please drop it off at the Extension Office.

LUNCH AND LEARN SERIES, Thursday, November 20, from 1-2 p.m. at the Owen County Public Library.
