Lions Support War Memorial Project

The Spencer Lions Club, a local service club founded in 1929, recently made a major gift of $2,000 to support the project to repair and upgrade the war memorial on the west side of the Owen County Courthouse square. The Lions Club gift was made in response to a match offer from an anonymous donor who had offered to equal the total of gifts from the Club and individual members up to $2,000. The gift and match will add $4,000 to the funds being collected for the project at the Owen County Community Foundation (OCCF).

Anyone interested in making a tax-deductible gift to support the war memorial project can mail their gift to the OCCF at P.O. Box 503, Spencer, Indiana 47460. Donors should note “War Memorial Fund” on their check.

Those interested in finding out more about the Spencer Lions Club may contact Sara Provines at 812-829-3168 or sjprovines@att.net. The Spencer Lions Club is a group of service-minded men and women who have a desire to serve others by helping the needy, supporting youth, and maintaining a healthy environment for our community.
