Charles W. Hawkins, Jr., 62

Charles W. Hawkins, Jr. Charles W. Hawkins, Jr. Charles “Charlie” W. Hawkins, Jr., age 62, of Spencer, passed away at 1:52 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2015, at IU Health-Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Bloomington on September 3, 1952, the son of Julia Marie (Hall) Hawkins.

He volunteered to join the United States Marine Corp. and served our country during the Vietnam War. He worked for Richland-Bean Blossom Community School Corporation since 1981 in various positions, currently custodian at Edgewood High School.

He loved his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. He enjoyed the outdoors, being a skilled marksman and sharing his knowledge with his close-knit family and friends. Charlie loved riding his motorcycle, “Pearl.”

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Becky (Smith) Hawkins; two daughters, Samantha Hawkins and Jennifer (Brandon Ison) Hawkins, both of Spencer; his sister, Beverly (Dan) Miller of Bloomington; a granddaughter, Graciawna England and her father Jeremy; a grandson, Graden Ison; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be held at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2015, with Clint Nicola officiating. Burial will follow at Chambersville Cemetery in Spencer, with military rites by the Spencer American Legion.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m., and from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
