Local Man Sentenced Monday For Dealing Methamphetamine

Jaymie Ray Brewer Jaymie Ray Brewer Jaymie Ray Brewer, 42, of Spencer, appeared in the Owen Circuit Court I on Monday morning where he pleaded guilty as charged to dealing in methamphetamine, a level 4 felony. At the hearing, Brewer admitted to possessing a large quantity of methamphetamine on September 9, 2015 at his Rocky Hill Road home with the intent to sell the methamphetamine. Brewer acknowledged having a lengthy criminal history, which included prior drug charges and prior opportunities at rehabilitation. Brewer also admitted that at the time he sold the methamphetamine he was out on bond for an unrelated battery charge.

The charge stemmed from an investigation conducted by undercover officers from the Owen County Sheriff’s Department. According to the probable cause affidavit filed in the case, Brewer sold methamphetamine to a confidential informant in the town of Spencer and subsequently the police applied for a search warrant for Brewer’s residence. During the execution of the search warrant, police located a large quantity of methamphetamine and other items associated with the sale and distribution of methamphetamine. During the search of Brewer, at the time of his arrest, police located the marked money used during the controlled buy.

According to Owen County Prosecutor Don VanDerMoere, Mr. Brewer was sentenced by the Honorable Lori Thatcher Quillen to six years at the Indiana Department of Corrections with three years executed and three years suspended to probation.
