THE SPENCER LIONS CLUB LIONS’ LUNCH will be Thursday, April 19, from 11:00 a.m. through 1:30 p.m., at the Lions building on Main Street in Spencer. For only $6.00 per person you can have your choice of several soups, salads, drinks and desserts every Thursday in March and April. The food is prepared by renowned Lions’ chefs Charlotte Query, Sandy Miller and Rusty
Freeman. All proceeds are used to maintain the community building, while is available for use by the public.

Spencer First Christian Church Will Hold A Ham & Bean Benefit Dinner Friday, April 20 beginning
at 6:30 p.m. at the Christian Life Center. This event will be held to support the Owen County Center for Women’s Ministries. There will be music and entertainment as well. The dinner is free and a freewill offering will be collected with proceeds going to OCCWM.

THE OWEN- PUTNAM STATE FOREST will host its annual open house Saturday, April 21 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the forest office. Ralph Unversaw, District Forester for Owen and Monroe counties, will be on hand to answer any and all woodland questions. Unversaw will also be guiding a tree and flower identification hike at 1:15 p.m. A variety of tree seedlings will be given away and light refreshments will be available. THE OWEN COUNTY AMATEUR RADIO ASSOCIATION will hold its regular monthly meeting on Saturday, April 21 at the Spencer First Christian Church, 157 South Montgomery Street, beginning at 9 a.m. After the business meeting, the group will drive to the Putnam County Emergency Communications Center for a tour led by David Costin, Putnam County 911 Director and Assistant EMA Director. A gathering for breakfast takes place at Chambers Smorgasbord, 72 West Market Street in Spencer, beginning at about 8 a.m.
INDIANA STATE PFLAG CONFERENCE will be held Saturday, April 21 at the Indiana University Mobley Auditorium in Bloomington. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Program runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fee is $20 per person, which includes a light breakfast and lunch. THE OWEN COUNTY TEA PARTY will host a candidate forum on Saturday, April 21, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the In God’s Arms building, located at 95 West Franklin Street in Spencer. Become an informed voter by meeting the Owen County primary candidates, both Democrat and Republican. All have been invited to address the audience and to introduce themselves and their campaigns.
