April 26th Lions Lunch Benefits Relay For Life
The last of the Spencer Lions Club weekly spring lunches will be held on Thursday, April 26 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Lester F. Litten Community Building on Main Street. The menu will be familiar – chili and potato soups, salad, ham and cheese and MacLion sandwiches, and a variety of delectable homemade desserts – but the cause will be different and special. All proceeds from the $6 all-you-can-eat lunch will be donated to the Relay for Life walk, which helps the American Cancer Society fund its programs to help prevent, treat, and research cures for cancer.
The Spencer Lions Club is also participating in the 24-hour Relay for Life walk at the “ground” level, as one of the leading Owen County teams. According to team captain Joan Staubach, “the battle against cancer is one of the many ways in which Lions support our community, and it’s an honor for us to join in this annual event.” The Owen County Relay for Life walk will take place on Saturday and Sunday, May 19 and 20.
Anyone interested in supporting the Lions Club team can also make a donation online by visiting RelayForLife.org/owencountyin and clicking on Spencer Lions Club under “Teams.”
