OV Finishes Second In Three-Way Match With Eagles And Bulldogs
Owen Valley (179) finished second in a three-way match Monday night with host South Putnam (173) and the Monrovia Bulldogs (209).
Matt Patterson and Alan Jackson, who each shot a 42, tied for top team honors for the Patriots.
Others carding scores for OV included Cole Parker with a 46, Alex Johnson 49, Kaleb Oldham 49 and Corbin Worland 52.
“None of our kids had ever played this particular course, nor had I ever been there before,” OV head coach Mike Beyers said. “I think that factored into some of our high scores, but we just had way too many penalty strokes. I don’t know if maybe our kids were too relaxed or what, but this was by far our worst score of the season. Our team is fairly young and I feel like most of our problems can be resolved by the kids simply having more confidence in themselves.”
OV (15-5) travels to Idle Creek Golf Course in Terre Haute this coming Saturday, May 12, to compete in the annual Western Indiana Conference match. Tee-time is set for 10:00 a.m.
