CHS Varsity Baseball Moves To 13-9 With Three Wins In Last Five Games
The Cloverdale varsity baseball squad is now 13-9 on the season after winning three of their last five games.
Cloverdale has taken a pair of wins over the Union Dugger Bulldogs, along with a win over the Eminence Eels. Their two losses came from the Linton Miners and the Clay City Eels.
In a double-header with the Bulldogs, the Clovers started out with a 12-2 win in five innings. Pitcher Justin Wilson took the win. He gave up four hits, struck out seven batters, and walked two.
Austin Mannan led the team at the plate with a home run and a single, along with three RBI. Brian Dale also had two hits and two RBI, while William Whitinger had one hit.
The next game was a bit closer, but the Clovers still came away with the 5-2 victory. It was Cody Carter getting the second win over the Bulldogs. He gave up two hits, struck out 12 batters, and walked five.
Dale led the team at the plate with two hits and one RBI. Ethan Atwood, Will Andersen, Mannan, Wilson, and Whitinger each had one hit. Mannan also had an RBI.
Their most recent win was over the Eels, where the Clovers finished with the score of 10-2. Andersen took the win, giving up six hits, striking out seven, and walking three.
Dale finished at the plate with three hits and one RBI, while Atwood had two hits and two RBI. Jordan Brinkman, Andersen, and Whitinger each had two hits and one RBI, and Mannan and Trevor Lockwood each had one hit.
In their game against Linton, the Clovers played a close game but came up short, losing 6-5. Dale took the loss. He gave up four hits, walked six, and had five strikeouts.
At the plate, Atwood had a double and two singles. Lockwood and Wilson each had two hits and one RBI, and Brinkman and Carter had one hit apiece.
Their recent game against the Eels resulted in another one-run loss, 7-6, with Wilson taking the loss. Dale started the game on the mound. He gave up six hits, walked four, and had two strikeouts. Wilson pitched just over two innings. He gave up five hits and had two strikeouts.
Mannan led at the plate with a triple, a single, and one RBI. Carter also had two hits, while Brinkman, Lockwood, Andersen, Wilson, and Whitinger each had one hit. Wilson had two RBI, while Brinkman, Andersen, and Whitinger each had one RBI.
