2012 CHS Volleyball Squad Earns Season-Opening Win

Cloverdale High School’s volleyball squad opened the 2012 season by traveling to Danville on Tuesday to take on the host Lady Warriors, winning in three sets – 27-25, 25-17 and 25-17.

Leading the scoring charge was Paige Gruener and Taylor Jones with eight points each, followed by Rebekah Jordon with seven, Bradanne Toney six, Bristy Skiles five, Jessica Winders four, and Lindsay Robson and Addrianna Patterson two each.

The offensive attack at the net was led by Toney with 13 kills, while Jones added seven, Gruener six, and Patterson five. Skiles led the squad in set assists with 30.

Defensively, the Lady Clovers were led by Jones with 11 digs, followed by Toney with nine, Gruener and Skiles eight each, Robson and Jordan five each and Winders four. At the net, Toney contributed two blocks.

Cloverdale will host the Casade Lady Cadets today, Thursday. Junior varsity action gets underway at 6:00 p.m., with the varsity match to follow.
