CHS Lady Clovers Move To 5-0 With Win Over Visiting West Vigo Vikings
Coach Kathy Moore’s Cloverdale varsity volleyball squad is now 5-0 after taking a three-game victory Thursday evening over the visiting West Vigo Lady Vikings.
“We are very excited about our season so far because we are playing well,” coach Moore explained. “We have set some goals and we are working hard toward achieving them.”
The Cloverdale win came in three games over the Lady Vikings. They dominated the contest from the first serve, winning the first game 25-12 and cruising to a 25-11 win in the second game. The third game was closer, 25-22, but still in favor of the Clovers.
Cloverdale’s Lindsay Robson and Taylor Jones each served for 12 points to lead the team behind the service line, while Paige Gruener had 11 points. Gruener also had five aces and Robson two. Bristy Skiles and Rebekah Jordan had three points apiece, and one each for Adrianna Patterson and Bradanne Toney.
The offense at the net was led by Toney with 22 kills. Gruener finished with seven kills, Jones and Patterson each had three, and Robson and Skiles one each. Skiles also had 29 set assists.
Defensively, Robson had 13 digs to lead the team, Gruener and Toney each had 10 digs, Jones and Patterson six apiece, and Skiles and Jordan each with five. Jones, Patterson, and Toney had two blocks apiece, and Skiles had one.
In junior varsity play, the Lady Clovers gained a win over the Lady Vikings in two games by scores of 25-15 and 25-21.
The Lady Clovers are scheduled to take on Union today, Monday, and Turkey Run on Tuesday at Cloverdale. They will then be on the road Thursday against Greencastle. Each match will begin at 6:00 p.m. with JV competition, followed by varsity play at around 7:30 p.m.
