Wesley Arthur Wesley Arthur Eleventh-year head coach Duane Potts and the Owen Valley High School varsity football coaching staff have announced selections for the team’s “Hammer Award,” “Offensive Lineman of the Week” and “Renegade Player of the Week” covering OV’s regular season-ending loss at Greencastle.

“Hammer Award” (hit of the week) honors went to senior Caleb Arthur, a 6’1”, 205-pound running back and linebacker.

Sophomore Evan Wood, a 6’0”, 160-pound defensive back was selected as the team’s “Renegade Player of the Week.”

“Offensive Lineman of the Week” honors went to senior Wesley Arthur, a 5’11”, 235-pound offensive and defensive lineman.

The “Renegade Player of the Week” recognizes a student-athlete who “best helped the team prepare for Friday night’s game,” while the “Hammer Award” doesn’t have to occur in a game situation; hits made during the team’s nightly practices are also considered.

Caleb Arthur Caleb Arthur OV (5-4) opens sectional play this coming Friday, October 19, at home against 8-1 Greenwood. The Woodmen suffered their first loss in last week’s season finale, 56-35, at Whiteland (6-3). Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
