‘Friends’ Come Together For Scottie

Of course there are probably no ‘official’ numbers available for small town benefit participation, but if there were, Owen County and the ‘Friends of Scottie Thompson’ benefits held Friday and Saturday would certainly be in the running for a record.

Patrons and volunteers of Friday’s benefit lunch braved cold, wet and windy conditions in an effort to raise funds for the local auctioneer and 4-H mainstay. Shown in the inset photo is volunteer Paula Wood serving benefit attendee Diana Curry in Friday’s ‘drivethru.’

Another huge crowd was on hand for Saturday evening’s benefit hog roast and auction with the Owen County Fairgrounds 4-H building and Open Class buildings filled to capacity.

In the top photo, volunteers Sarah Melton, Ethan Pruett and Morgan Richardson man the table at the entrance to Saturday’s benefit dinner.

Additional photos from both benefits will be featured this week in the Spencer Evening World. (Staff Photos by Amanda York)
