Owen Valley VFD Releases Year-End Results For 2012

The Owen Valley Volunteer Fire Department reported no fatalities or injuries of any kind to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) in 2012.

According to year-end statistics recently released by the department, the Washington Township area, which includes the town of Spencer, saw just two residential structure fires in 2012.

In all, the department responded to 276 calls for service. Of those calls, 56 were related to fires, including 14 trash or dumpster fires; 17 ‘other’ fires; seven brush, grass or wildland fires; four highway vehicle and four other vehicle fires; along with eight non-structural or non-vehicle fires.

The department responded to 40 rescue calls, 30 false alarms, and 86 mutual aid runs. The year also included three hazardous material calls and seven other hazardous responses, in addition to 54 ‘other’ calls.
