Patriot Band And Guard Members Travel To Indianapolis, Greenfield

Owen Valley High School Band & Guard members were kept busy this past weekend, traveling to Indianapolis and Greenfield.

For several members, Saturday was spent at North Central High School in Indianapolis at the Indiana State School Association’s State Solo & Ensemble.

In a solo trumpet performance, Courtlyn Mims received a Silver rating, while the flute sextet of Tessa Cunningham, Naomi Lacy, Sandra Sheilds, Miranda Laing, Kylee Reed and Camrynne Phelps also received a Silver rating.

Due to a conflict, students with the OV saxophone ensemble did not perform.

Also on Saturday, the band’s winter percussion competed at Greenfield Central High School in the Indiana Percussion Association Contest, finishing second among eight schools. The students participating included Toryn White, Sarah Bauer, Briana Shields, Thomas Petry, RJ Vedder, Cayden Sparks, Dakota Stone, Evan Brinson, Gavin Guy, Conner Frye, Brandon Stewart, Tyler Martin, Keirstyn Bucy, Nick Jones, Summer Rowell and Will Hardy.

For OVHS Winter Guard members Autumn Lewis, Sara Prewitt, Abbi Young, Taylor Brown, Kayla Pless, Tori Arthur, Hailey Farmer and Elaine Allen, the weekend was spent in Brownsburg where the girls finished 12th among 22 schools in the Indiana High School Color Guard Association Contest.
