LUNCH AND LEARN WITH SARA. The Endwright Center will offer an all day computer class event on March 14 with instruction on Facebook and Twitter at 10:30 p.m. and a Pinterest class at 2:30 p.m. Bring a dish for a pitchin luncheon and your laptop if you have one. THE GOSPORT BUSINESS ASSOCIATION will meet Thursday, March 14, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Chicago’s Pizza in Gosport.

THE OWEN COUNTY FARMERS’ MARKET invites vendors and the community to a Panel Discussion meeting on Thursday, March 14, at Farm Bureau Insurance, 743 East Franklin Street in Spencer. THE SPENCER MASONIC LODGE #95 will hold a stated meeting on Thursday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m. All area Masons are encouraged to attend.

March 16

THE OWEN COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE OWEN COUNTY AMATEUR RADIO ASSOCIATION, will host a Severe Weather Spotter Class on Saturday, March 16, at 9:00 a.m. in the basement of the Spencer First Christian Church, located at 157 South Montgomery Street. David Tucek with the National Weather Service will conduct the training. This class is open to emergency responders and the general public. There is no cost to attend and pre-registration is not required.

CHAOS AT THE OWEN COUNTY ART GUILD, Saturday, March 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is the guild’s children’s art program. There is no fee, however donations are helpful.

SONS OF THE SPENCER AMERICAN LEGION WILL BE SERVING CHEESEBURGERS Saturday, March 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the American Legion Post on South Main Street in Spencer. Take out or dine-in available. All proceeds benefit the Joe Carmichael Scholarship Fund.

VFW POST 1405 LADIES AUXILIARY OPEN HOUSE / ST. PATRICK’S DAY CELEBRATION will be held Saturday, March 16. Dinner is from 6-8 p.m. Bluegrass Band “The Richardsons” will play from 8:30 - ? at the post in Spencer. This is also a fund raiser for Sharon Barger to help her on her way to State President of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Non-members are welcome. March 17

THE OWEN COUNTY GARDEN CLUB will hold a pruning seminar on Sunday, March 17, at 3 p.m. Meet at the east end of Cooper Commons in Spencer, near the corner of Cooper and East streets. Local nurseryman Bill Glass will demonstrate pruning practices and techniques on the shrubs and young trees in the park. In addition, the club is offering a tool-sharpening service. Drop off your hand tools at the Cooper Commons picnic shelter between 2:30 and 4:00. A $2 per tool donations is suggested. This event is free and open to the public. March 18

THE SENIOR DINNER will be held Monday, March 18. The host will be McCormick’s Creek Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center. Bring a covered dish and a $3 donation. Entertainment will be provided by the New Termain Nelson & Joyce. Dinner is at 6 p.m.

AUTHOR BILL JAMERSON WILL PRESENT A MUSIC AND STORYTELLING PROGRAM ABOUT THE CIVILIAN CONSERVATION CORPS (CCC) at the In God’s Arms building (old IGA) on Monday, March 18, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The entrance will be on the south side of the building at Montgomery and Franklin (directly across from the library). People can use both the Mark and the library parking lots. The program is co-sponsored by the Owen County Historical Society and is free and open to the public. THE COAL CITY FESTIVAL COMMITTEE will meet Monday, March 18, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Jefferson Baptist Church in Coal City. All are welcome. This year’s festival is set for August 16-18. Vendors are needed. For more information, call Sandy at 859-4641, or 859-4185.

March 18-24

THE SALEM SEPARATE BAPTIST CHURCH WILL HOST REVIVAL SERVICES March 18-24 featuring evangelist, Reverend John Perkins. Services will begin at 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Services on Sunday will be: Sunday School at 9:30 a.m., worship service at 10:30 a.m., and evening service at 6:00. The church is located on State Road 43S, ten miles south of Spencer. Everyone is invited.

March 19

THE HI-HATTERS will meet at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 19 at the Route 67 Ice Cream and Diner, located at 1 South Commercial Street in Worthington. Come join in the fun. Carpool behind the Nazarene Church at 11:00 a.m.

THE OWEN COUNTY FAMILY YMCA will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday, March 19, beginning at 6:00 p.m. This meeting is open to the public.

March 20

OWEN COUNTY EXTENSION HOMEMAKER’S SEWING DAY will be March 20 at the Purdue Extension Office, 180 South Washington Street, from 9:00 a.m. until 12 noon. Please join in making items for those less fortunate. In need of busy hands cutting, stuffing and sewing items for the little ones and the senior citizens. Have a fun time! All are welcome!

PRO-HARVEST SEEDS AND JOHN THACKER OF JD SEED SUPPLY WILL HOLD A COVER CROP MEETING at the Freedom Community Building on Thursday, March 21, beginning at 6 p.m. Topics will include soil health, seed varieties, timing, rates, spray strategies. THE ENDWRIGHT CENTER WILL OFFER A HARMONICA FOR HEALTH CLASS on March 22 at 10 a.m. Anyone interested in improving their lung health is invited to attend. A free harmonica will be supplied. For more information, call the center at 812-876- 3383, extension 515.

March 23

THE CENTER POINT VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY will host a benefit breakfast on Saturday, March 23, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the firehouse, located on Main Street across from the post office in Center Point. The menu will include eggs, sausage, pancakes, biscuits, gravy, coffee, milk and orange juice. All proceeds will help offset the department’s operating expenses.
