Clovers Finish Second In Three-Way Golf Match
Cloverdale’s high school golfers finished second in a three-way match Monday at Clover Meadows.
North Putnam came out on top with a team score of 189, followed by Cloverdale with a score of 190, and Lighthouse Academy 227
North Putnam was led by Mason Asher who carded a 44, followed by Jon Willard with a 45, Bennet Hazelgrove 48, Jake Smith 52, Danny Smith 53, and Judy 53
The Clovers were paced by Aaron Whitlock with a 45, followed closely by Freddie Fislar with a 47, Chase Snyder 49, Rylan Mattocks 49, Devin Bassett 50, and Dustin Cummings 62
Lighthouse was led by, last names only, Engle with a 45, Stinson 56, Callahan 60, Gilstrap 66, Fictner 69, and Houston 72.
“Once again, consistency from shot to shot and hole to hole is giving us fits,” noted Cloverdale coach Doug Wokoun. “We had perfect conditions to play in, but did not take advantage of it.
“I think coach Patrick would agree that neither team played anywhere close to its capabilities. I know how frustrated our group is, and the North group has to be equally frustrated. The weather last week made practicing difficult, and both teams suffered from that. The golfers in this match are all capable of much better.”
Weather permitting, Cloverdale (3-2) was set to host Monrovia on Tuesday at Clover Meadows.
