Putnam County Playhouse To Hold ‘Angel Street’ Auditions May 19-20

There will be two sessions of auditions for the Victorian thriller “Angel Street” by Patrick Hamilton at the Putnam County Playhouse. The first session will be Sunday, May 19, at 3:00 p.m. The second session with be Monday, May 20, at 7:00 p.m. Both will be in the rehearsal center at the Hazel Day Longden Theatre in Greencastle. “Angel Street” is also known by its film title, “Gaslight.”

The play will be produced July 11-13 and July 17-20. It is being sponsored by Rossok & Co. and Pekin Insurance.

Director Jack Randall Earles says there are five roles to be cast. They include the leading couple Jack and Bella Manningham; a retired police detective, Mr. Rough; the housekeeper, Elizabeth; and the maid, Nancy. All roles require an English accent. The auditions will consist of readings from the script.

The 2013 season Putnam County Playhouse will begin with an open house on Sunday, June 2. The first show of the season will be the musical “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown,” opening June 6.
