JV Softball Picks Up Wins Over West Vigo, Shakamak

Staff Report

Owen Valley’s junior varsity softball team recently earned wins over West Vigo and Shakamak.

The Lady Patriots defeated the Shakamak Lady Lakers, 6-3.

Following the team’s win over Shakamak, OV coach Rosanne Ruble had this to say: “The girls played hard, making few errors in the field. They had a great night hitting with doubles coming from Kristen Skinner, Samaritan Lighter, Taylor Hendrickson and Gracie Terrell and a triple from Kristen Skinner.”

OV’s next contest found the squad besting the West Vigo Lady Vikings, 8-2.

“The girls have learned a lot since the start of the season,” coach Ruble said. “The last time we played West Vigo it was only our second game of the season and the score was not in our favor. This time we had our bats going and the fielding was strong.

“We had four doubles coming from Taylor Elliott, Jennifer Morgan and Kristen Skinner and we only made one error in the field. Beth Mauder came out strong on the mound with four strikeouts and two walks.
