The Jolly Homemakers met September 11th at the Freedom Community Center. President, Sandy Arthur called the meeting to order, leading us in the pledge to the American flag and reciting the club creed. Roll call was replied by answering, “What was your first car as a married person?” We had a lot of laughs from that walk down memory lane. Those present were Sandy Arthur, Janet Berry, Peggy Bull, Velma Carie, Martha Franklin, Susan Harris, Freda Jelase, Bernadene Kay, Errin Logsdon, Karla Moore, Myra Neal, Penny Plummer, Regina Roberts, Catalina Shull and Linda Welch.
Our hostess was Linda Welch; co-hostess was Freda Jelase. Refreshments were Subway-style sandwiches, vegetable tray and chips. Desserts are a must it seems for us and we had bread pudding and chocolate zucchini bread.
Quote for the month: “We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.” – Ronald Regan
Hint for September: Freeze several different sized water bottles to keep food chilled in an ice chest. When the water melts you can drink it.
Secretary’s minutes were read and approved.
The treasure’s report was given and approved, subject to audit.
Health and Safety lesson was given by Myra Neal on “Managing Incontinence.”
Song Leader Freda Jelase led us in “Indiana Smiles” from our “Singing Through The Years” song book.
Jolly Homemakers discussed food items for our upcoming catering events; we are looking forward to catering the Spring District in 2014.
Several events were marked on our calendars, our next sewing day October 16th; Homemakers Week October 17th with a Hobo Dinner and guest speaker Jackie Schmidt; October 18th is the Health Fair; and October 19th there will be a display at the farmers’ market for the county fundraiser.
The meeting was adjourned by reading our Club Creed and a fun game of word scrabble was played. Winners were Karla Moore and Penny Plummer.
