Purdue Extension To Host Education Session, Distribute Free Baby Cribs

On Wednesday, October 23, at 1:00 p.m., Purdue Extension-Owen County will offer an education session on safe sleep for infants and distribute free cribs to families who need a safe place for their baby to sleep. The Cribs for Kids program provides families with a Safe Sleep Kit which includes a pack-n-play crib, sheet, wearable blanket for the infant, pacifier, safe sleep informational brochure, and magnetic frame with the safe sleep message. The Safe Sleep Kits are free and available to any family in need that does not currently have a safe crib for their baby. Prenatal families may also apply.

The program encourages practicing the ABCs of Safe Sleep: Babies Sleep safer... Alone, on their Backs, and in a safe Crib.

The Indiana State Department of Health (PPASS Program), Indiana State Department of Children’s Services IU Child Protection Team, and the Indiana Perinatal Network have all partnered with Purdue Extension-Owen County to provide this service.

For more information, call the Purdue Extension-Owen County office at 829-5020. The office is located at 180 South Washington Street in Spencer. Space is limited.
