Christmas At The Square To Go On, With A Few Schedule Adjustments

After careful consideration, the Christmas at the Square hometown holiday festival will continue as planned this coming Saturday, December 7, in downtown Spencer. The announcement was made Thursday morning and included a notice that many of the planned outdoor activities will be moved indoors.

Schedule of Events

•8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. – Breakfast with Santa, hosted by the DeMolay at the Owen County Republican Party headquarters. All proceeds go to support the DeMolay organization.

•9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. – Downtown Shopping with local vendors. Vendors have been moved indoors at 45 South Main Street, Open Door Christian Fellowship, Lester F. Litten Community Building, and the Purdue Extension Community Room. Look for green “vendor” signs for opportunities to buy local.

•9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. – Gift wrapping station for all that local shopping at the Owen County Republican Party headquarters.

•10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. – Wonderland of Wreaths Silent Auction. Wreaths will be on display on the first floor of the Owen County Courthouse with bid sheets available near the wreaths. All proceeds go to the Tivoli Theatre and Christmas at the Square.

•10:00 a.m. “A Charlie Brown Christmas” at the Tivoli Theatre (free admission).

•11:00 a.m. – “A Charlie Brown Christmas” at the Tivoli Theatre (free admission).

•3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. – Christ- mas Carnival, hosted by the 4-H Fishing Team at the old Armory building (free admission).

•6:00 p.m. – Flag ceremony led by veterans, with a moment of silence to commemorate Pearl Harbor Day.

•6:00 p.m. – Parade down South Main Street to usher Santa to the Owen County Courthouse.

•6:30 p.m. (or immediately following parade) Owen County Courthouse Dome Lighting Ceremony.

•6:45 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. – Courthouse activities, including pictures with Santa, cookie decorating, crafts, reindeer dust station, and holiday book readings.

•7:00 p.m. – Final bids for the Wonderland of Wreaths, with winners to be announced and wreaths available for pick up.

•7:30 p.m. – Members of the Owen County Family YMCA youth dance classes will perform inside the Owen County Courthouse.

•7:30 p.m. – Live production of “A Christmas Carol – the Musical” at the Tivoli Theatre. Other Activities

•Fresh cut Christmas trees from the Spencer Exchange Club. Cost is $20. Available on the Owen County Courthouse lawn.

•Live Nativity on the Owen County Courthouse lawn.

•Downtown dining options include Chambers Smorgasbord, The Muffin Top, Spencer Moose Lodge, local prepared food vendors, as well as hot dogs and hot chocolate at the Owen County Courthouse.

The Christmas Committee greatly appreciates the many efforts of the town, business owners, community organizations and volunteers who are helping to bring this celebration together.
