Gosport Council Approves 2014 Salary Ordinance And Holiday Schedule At December Meeting

The three-member Gosport Town Council recently met for its final meeting of the calendar year.

After the approval of the November 12, 2013 meeting minutes and claims register, the council moved on to new business where they heard from Lucas Howard regarding the Emergency Services Insurance Program (ESIP).

Next on the agenda, the council voted to approve its meeting schedule, holiday schedule and salary ordinance for 2014.

Keith Minett from Kenna Consulting attended the meeting, giving an update on the street sign project.

In fire department news, Gosport Volunteer Fire Department Chief Brian Leonard announced that the VFD had responded to 125 calls for service to date in 2013. Also, grant applications were submitted to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for a new truck and turn-out gear.

Also in fire department news, bids were received for a new furnace at the 3rd Street fire station. Truesdel Heating and Cooling submitted the lowest bid, which was approved by the council.

The next meeting of the Gosport Town Council is scheduled for Tuesday, January 14, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in Gosport Town Hall.
