CHAOS GROUP MEETS WITH BJ BENNETT at the Owen County Art Guild, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

WRITERS’ GROUP MEETS AT THE OWEN COUNTY ART GUILD, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.. This group of folks encourage each other to create with words.

“KEEP YOUR CASH! CLAIM YOUR CREDIT!” OUTREACH EVENT, Friday, January 31, from 3-5 p.m. at Babbs SuperValu in Spencer. This event is part of a national effort to raise awareness of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and local free tax assistance. EITC is a refundable federal income tax credit that can put up to $6,044 back into the pockets of working individuals and families. In addition to explaining the benefits of EITC, community partners will discuss the Free Community Tax Service and distribute free brochures and giveaways.

THE OWEN COUNTY CHRISTIAN MEN’S FELLOWSHIP (OCCMF) will meet for their monthly Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, February 1st, at the Spencer Christian Church. The OCCMF sponsors the Owen County Weekday Religious Education (WRE) program at all four S-OCS elementary schools. All Christian men are invited to attend – breakfast will be served at 8:00 a.m.

BOY SCOUT TROOP #284 will host an Eagle Ceremony for Jared Haulk on Sunday, February 2, beginning at 2 p.m. at the In God’s Arms building in Spencer. This event also will be Brett Levy’s last event with Troop #284 and the troop wishes to honor him for his many years of dedication. This event is open to the public.

THE SOUTH CENTRAL COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM BOARD OF DIRECTORS will meet Monday, February 3, beginning at 6 p.m. at the CAP Office, located at 1500 West 15th Street in Bloomington.

February 4

OWEN COUNTY RELAY FOR LIFE KICK-OFF MEETING, Tuesday, February 4, from 6-8 p.m. in the upstairs activity room of the Owen County Public Library. For additional information, or if you would like to put a team together for the Owen County Relay for Life, contact Crystal Smith at 812-701- 4537.

BRAIN GAMES WILL BE HELD WEEKLY on Wednesdays from 2-3 p.m. at The Endwright Center in Ellettsville. This is a weekly activity of playing fun trivia games to jump start our brains. For more information, call Heather Short at 812-345-7021.

SIGNS OF THE TIMES, ACCORDING TO THE BOOK OF REVELATIONS. Are world events shaping a one world government? Is Bible prophecy being fulfilled right before our eyes? The beast, the Antichrist, WWIII, The Rapture? Are you ready? Come and see. Every Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Spencer Burger King.

THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY IN OWEN COUNTY will hold their monthly book sale on Saturday, February 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Life-Long Learning Center, located behind the Owen County Public Library.

BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL SIGNUPS WILL BE HELD AT THE OWEN VALLEY SPORTS COMPLEX on Saturdays, February 8, 15, 22 and March 1 and on Tuesdays, February 11, 18 and 25th from 6-8 p.m.

INDEPENDENT CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING returns Saturday, February 8 to the Owen Valley Sports Complex in Spencer. Tickets are $6 in advance or $8 at the door. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the family of the late Tom Smith of Patricksburg. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 812-585- 2997.

THE CATARACT LAKE AREA CRIME WATCH will host Guardian Firearms Academy Instructor Jerrod Baugh on Monday, February 10, beginning 6:30 p.m. at the Cunot Community Center, located on State Road 42 in Cunot.
