Beware Of Latest ‘One Ring’ Scam

Recently, telephone scammers have changed their tactics and added a new batch of area codes. The “One Ring” scam, as it is called, works by computerized robot dialers calling your cell phone and hanging up after one ring. It is only human nature for people to be curious of the missed call you just received but when you call back the missed number, charges accumulate against your cell phone bill. Please be aware of this scam and cautious with your work and personal phones not to call back or text any unknown telephone numbers, especially those with an unfamiliar or out of the country area code.

Below are some of the area codes that may appear on your phone or text messages:

Antigua or Barbuda (268)

Dominican Republic (809)

Jamaica (876)

British Virgin Islands (284)

Grenada (473)
