Cloverdale Wrestlers End Season After Sectional, Regional Contests

Max Secrest Max Secrest The 2013-2014 season is now complete for the Cloverdale varsity wrestling squad after performances during the post-season at the sectional and regional levels.

They first competed at the Avon Sectional on February 1st and were able to advance four wrestlers to the next round.

In order to advance to the regional from the sectional, wrestlers needed to finish in the top four of their weight class. The Clovers had four competitors who finished fourth to advance.

Junior Jacob Waycott finished fourth at 138 pounds to make his way to the regional contest.

Also finishing fourth was senior Wade Warren, competing in the 152-pound weight class.

At 160 pounds, junior Max Secrest took fourth, and senior Cody Stout was fourth at 182 pounds.

Each of the four Clovers made their way to Mooresville over this past weekend to compete at the regional level.

Despite their efforts, the Clovers each fell in the first round to end the 2013-2014 season.


Cody Stout Cody Stout Waycott lost by a fall with a time of 4:44 to Franklin’s Skyler Lykins. He finished the season with a record of 17-10.

Martinsville’s Seth Ferguson topped Warren by a fall with a time of 1:54. Warren’s final season record was 16-12.

Clover Secrest took a loss by major decision, 9-1, to Matt Wyrick of Franklin Community. His season ended with a 22-7 record.

Another Franklin wrestler, Michael Petrole, knocked off Stout by a fall with a time of 19 seconds. Stout ended the season with a mark of 13-9.
