Owen Valley’s junior varsity boys’ basketball team took advantage of a career-high 18 points from junior point guard Devon Shouse to earn a 46-36 Western Indiana Conference win at Northview on Wednesday night.

OV opened the first quarter with six points from center Matt Campbell and four from Shouse to secure an early 10-7 lead. By the half, OV had pushed its lead to eight, 22-16, thanks in large part to another eight points from Shouse in the second quarter. OV also received two points each from Hunter Sturgeon and Joe Musgrove.

The Knights managed to match OV’s 10 third quarter points, but weren’t able to overcome the early deficit, entering the fourth trailing by six, 32- 26. OV received four points from Shouse in the third, along with two apiece from Campbell, Sturgeon and Austin Boyd.

OV tacked on another 14 points in the final quarter as Sturgeon and Kane Woodall contributed four free throws, Boyd added four of his own and Shouse ended his night with two more.

Behind Shouse’s 18 points, OV received eight points each from Sturgeon and Campbell, while Boyd scored six, Woodall added four and Musgrove finished with two.

“We played the best we have all year, against a good, big team,” OV coach Lucas Roberts said. “It was a great team win – we are really coming together and playing as a team.”

The Patriots (6-6) will be back in action this coming Saturday, February 15 at South Vermillion. The action gets underway at 12 noon. OV will be back at home on Tuesday, February 18, for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off with Eminence.
