WRITERS’ GROUP AT THE OWEN COUNTY ART GUILD, Friday, March 7, from 2-4 p.m. Writers share their work and support each other.

THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY will meet Friday, March 7, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Owen County Public Library. The public is welcome.

OWEN VALLEY CHOIRS’, MID-WINTER ‘POPS’ CONCERT, Friday, March 7. Curtain time is 7 p.m. and general admission is $2.

March 8

SWEET OWEN INDUSTRIES ARC WILL HOST A SPRING VENDOR SALE, Saturday, March 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sweet Owen Industries is located at 36 Concord Road, east of Spencer. For more information, call Kellie Norris at 812-821-1389 or 812-714-8138.

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY BOOK SALE, Saturday, March 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Life-Long Learning Center, located adjacent to the Owen County Public Library in Spencer.

ROAD KILL CAFE, Saturday, March 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Join the fun and dine at the Owen County Art Guild. Cost is $6 per person, with proceeds to benefit the art guild’s building fund.

March 9

THE OWEN COUNTY ART GUILD WILL HOST A RECEPTION to open a monthlong show of the work of the Fickett family on Sunday, March 9, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sonya, Alyssa and Daniel Fickett will be on hand to meet the public and discuss their work. The public is invited to attend the reception and meet the artists. Light refreshments will be served. The Owen County Art Guild is located at 199 West Cooper Street in Spencer.

MT. OLIVET CHRISTIAN CHURCH will resume its second Sunday Open Mic Sings on March 9th. A carry-in dinner will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the sing to follow at 6:00 p.m. Bring a covered dish and join in for a blessed time with food, fellowship and music. Musicians can bring your own CD/tape or let the house band accompany you. Or just bring your “listening ears” and sit back and enjoy the message through music. Pastor Bill Williams and the congregation welcome all to attend. The church is located at the corner of State Road 46 East and County Line Road in Chambersville Cemetery.

WHITE RIVER VALLEY PFLAG (parents, friends and family of the lesbian and gay community) will hold its monthly meeting on March 9th. Please call 812-829- 7896 for time and meeting location or for more information.

EASTERN STAR CHAPTER 425 WILL HOLD A STATED MEETING Monday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m. at 351 North Harrison Street at the Masonic Lodge. Officers are to provide snacks. Social hour to begin at 6:30 p.m. Casual dress.

SEWING CLASS AT THE OWEN COUNTY ART GUILD, Tuesday, March 11, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Anyone who wants to learn to sew or improve their skills can attend this free sewing classes. Bring your own machine, if you can. Call 829-1877 for more information.

PEOPLE OVER PARKINSON’S meets at McCormick’s Creek Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center on Tuesday, March 11, beginning at 4 p.m. This is a great opportunity to meet with the center’s therapy specialists to discuss topics most important to you and your loved ones. WINTER ATHLETICS BANQUET, CLOVERDALE HIGH SCHOOL, Tuesday, March 11, beginning at 7 p.m. in the high school cafetorium.

WHITE RIVER BEEKEEPERS will meet Tuesday, March 11, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Owen County Fairgrounds. Anyone with an interest in beekeeping is welcome to attend.

THE SPENCER AMERICAN LEGION AND AUXILIARY will meet Tuesday, March 11 at 7 p.m. at the post.

WACKY WEDNESDAY CRAFT SESSION at the Owen County Art Guild, Wednesday, March 12, from 1-3 p.m. Bring your favorite craft and join others as they create.

PUZZLES, TRIVIA AND GAMES FOR THE BRAIN, 1-3 p.m., second Wednesday of each month at the Endwright Center, 631 West Edgewood Drive in Ellettsville. Heather Short, of Indiana Home Health, will lead participants in playing trivia games, solving puzzles and other fun activities to maintain a sharp focus and, better memory retention. Refreshments will be provided by Indiana Home Health. New players are always welcome! Sponsored by Area 10 Agency on Aging and Indiana Home Health. THE ALPHA DELTA CHAPTER OF TRI KAPPA will host its annual Longaberger® Basket Bingo event on Thursday, March 13, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Owen Valley Middle School. Doors will open at 5:45 p.m., with the cost of admission set at $10 and limited to those 18 years of age and older. Each $10 ticket covers twenty games. MCCORMICK’S CREEK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WILL HOST ITS ANNUAL MATH & SCIENCE NIGHT on Friday, March 14, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Don’t miss out on demonstrations from Cook Aviation, Hoosier Energy, the IU Math Department, Our Community Bank, the Society of Women Engineers, Mrs. Linda Barrett, Owen County EMS, Purdue Extension, REMC, Bean Blossom Patricksburg Water Corporation, Owen County Soil & Water Conservation District, the Society of Plastics Engineers, and Peoples State Bank. This year’s event will also welcome Babbs SuperValu and the Owen County Amateur Radio Club! This is a free event.

THE GOSPORT BAPTIST CHURCH WILL HOST A CHILI SUPPER AND GOSPEL SING, Saturday, March 15. Supper begins at 5 p.m.; singing at 6 p.m. Special guest will be southern gospel group Whiteland Aires. Everyone is welcome to join in for a night of food and fellowship.
