Brown County Lady Eagles Soar To 5-0 Tennis Win Over Visiting Patriots

The Owen Valley girls’ tennis team and first-year head coach Matt Lowers traveled to Brown County on May 1st to take on the host Lady Eagles, who soared to a 5-0 win.

At number one singles, OV’s Kayla Samick was defeated by Josie Gray, 2-6, 1-6. Playing number two singles, Darby DeFord fell to Brown County’s Whitney Williamson, 1-6, 1-6 and Sarah Gilstrap also fell, 2-6, 3-6 to Elisabeth Huls.

Brown County’s number one doubles team of Sarah Kurdziel and Mary Kate McCann took down Tara Langley and Lexi Heck, 6-3, 6-2, while Ashley Pugh and Kylene Warne defeated OV’s Cierra Dillman and Lorena Dourado, 6-2, 6-0.

Weather permitting, the Lady Patriots will be back in action Tuesday, May 6, at home against the Linton Lady Miners. The match is set to get underway at 4:30 p.m.
