Fair Board, Volunteers Working Hard In Preparation For Owen County Fair

The Owen County Fairgrounds is alive with activity as fair board members, volunteers and even your 2014 Owen County Fair Queen Rebecca Walcott prepare the site for next week’s fair.

In the photo above, Deb Keith, Lillian Pursell, Rebecca Walcott and Linda Gentry, left to right, spread mulch at the front entrance to the fairgrounds.

Verl Keith is shown inset as he prepares to do work with this Kubota tractor.

In the photo below, Dave Davies, left, and Drew Woodall unload sheep and goat pen gates from a trailer. Monroe County, as in years past, was gracious enough to allow their neighbors to the west to borrow a few as the goat and sheep numbers keep growing.

The Owen County Fair Board and various volunteers are busy cleaning, setting up and beautifying the grounds in preparation for the fair which begins Saturday, July 5. (Staff Photos by Amanda York)
