Early Tuesday Morning Burglary Interrupted By Local Authorities
Local authorities responded Tuesday to a reported burglary in progress at the Act One Video in Spencer. According to the probable cause affidavit filed by Spencer Deputy Town Marshal Tony Stevens, police responded to the location based on an alarm and citizen complaint around 1:50 a.m.
As police arrived on scene they observed one man run from near a window of the business. He was taken into custody a short time later by deputy Russell Glenn of the Owen County Sheriff’s Department. As the investigation continued, police learned that a second individual was involved in the burglary, who had also fled the scene as police arrived. That person was later found at a nearby residence and was taken into custody.
In all, two people were charged as a result of this incident: Robert A. Glover, 36, of Amo, Indiana and Joshua A. Smith, 31, of Spencer. They were both formally charged in the Owen Circuit Court with Conspiracy to Commit Burglary (C-felony), Theft (D-felony) and Resisting Law Enforcement (A-Misdemeanor).
Owen County Prosecutor Don VanDerMoere reported that more information may be forthcoming after the investigation is concluded and that additional charges may be filed in this matter. He further advised that criminal charges are only allegations and that these suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
