Noise Complaint Leads To Five Arrests Thursday In Spencer
On Thursday, February 2, officers from the Spencer Police Department and Owen County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to George Drive in Spencer regarding the complaint at approximately 10:50 p.m.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed by SPD Deputy Town Marshal Ryan Bonebrake, as officers arrived on the scene they were directed to a particular apartment. A male subject, identified as Darrell P. Lethig, answered the door and allowed officers to enter the residence.
According to Bonebrake’s report, officers immediately observed the odor of what they believed to be burned marijuana. As officers continued their investigation they discovered substances they believe to be marijuana and K-2 Spice, both controlled substances.
As a result of the findings, officers arrested five individuals, who were booked into the Owen County Security Center. Deputy Bonebrake was assisted by other members of his department and the Owen County Sheriff’s Department.
Those preliminary charged are: Darrell P. Lethig, 53, Spencer, charged with possession of marijuana; Kristy N. Kinsey, 26, Spencer, charged with possession of marijuana; Brandon L. Lethig, 18, Bloomington, charged with visiting a common nuisance; Jesse M. Ranard, 20, Spencer, charged with visiting a common nuisance; and Kevin L. Eller, Ellettsville, 32, possession of synthetic cannabinoids.
Owen County Prosecutor Don VanDerMoere advised that these criminal charges are only allegations and that the suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
